See if you can NAME THAT PHOTOGRAPHER from the following five clues:
1) This photographer dropped out of school in sixth grade and soon after built his or her first camera.
2) This photographer famously said: “Optimism, unaccompanied by personal effort, is merely a state of mind and not fruitful.”
3) This photographer was born in Wisconsin, moved to Minnesota, then later to Seattle, eventually settling in Los Angeles.
4) To earn money this photographer worked as an uncredited assistant cameraperson for Cecil B. DeMille during the filming of The Ten Commandments.
5) This photographer’s collection at the Library of Congress offers us an extensive look back into our history with more than 2,400 silver-gelatin, first generation photographic prints – some of which are sepia-toned – made from original glass negatives.
Leave your guess in the comment box below and check back tomorrow to see if you are correct.
I had time to stop by today and ponder your alluring questions, but inasmuch as I’ve never made note from the many thousands of photographs I’ve admired, I had no idea. Then bingo, someone knew right out of the gate. I would have thrown in Thomas Edison and been wrong. miss you.
Nancy, it’s always fun to see you here. Thanks for swinging by to say hi.
One day, I’ll be free again to enjoy all the blogs I love and meet new writers! Just not yet Plus our family reunion in Ohio is 8/8 to 8/20, and a trip to Australia the end of Oct. This year has been intense to say the least!
Your posts are always amazing! lol
Not being an expert of any sort when it comes to photographers, I have no idea. But, I enjoy your clues very much!
Monica, I made this quiz particularly tough because it seems the others were too easy. I’m excited to share the answer. Take a peek when you get a chance.
PS: I like your new gravatar picture.
Im going to say Eastman Kodak..
Jacquie, I love that you bravely threw your answer into the hat. I made it tough this time because so many people easily answered my previous quizzes. Thanks for taking part!
Edward Curtis is my guess. This is weird, first time I have seen your blog and I saw this post. I don’t know all that much about photographers however, I am interested in American Indians and recently saw his work at the Peabody Essex Museum.
Congratulations, Krystallyn! You are the one and only person who correctly answered this difficult quiz. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I hope you’ll come back and visit again soon.
