I won't ever forget that day and am almost glad I didn't have the TV coverage available to me to watch early in the day. Our boss would not let us go home or watch it and we just barely got to check the internet a few times to see what was happening. I remember thinking the world might come to an end and my boyfriend at the time was very crass about the whole thing. I called him and was disappointed at his response and then I called my mother because I thought it might possibly be the last time I'd see her. Who knew what was coming after the plane attacks? Horrible day. I'll never forget.

Thanks for posting this. This was an act of violence that affected so many with it's ripple effect throughout the whole world and it seems that our focus as a nation has been set so off course buy it. I recently watched a PBS special that you might find interesting about respected, high rise construction, physics and architectural experts that are questioning some of the explanations surrounding 9/11. You can watch it online here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1l-8PFk8j5I

I highly recommend it.

I'm glad you posted this again, lest we forget that terrible day eleven years ago. These photographs are so amazing and just brought everything back in an instant. What a time that was--here's to never having to experience anything like that ever again. Great post, Becky.

Powerful stories and images, I think we all remember vivdly what we were doing on that fateful day. And it sad that we seemed to still be living in a era where politicians believed war and agression was any kind of answer to those problems.

Acting with empathy is necessary, I dream of a world where there is empathy and compassion, which isn't to say there shouldn't be consequences, just that we have to see with different eyes and ears than in the past and be careful that we don't alienate or judge entire nations or different ways of living, alongside those who are intent on destruction who may come from elsewhere.
